Police Bolster Security for Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations in Delta

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered a massive deployment of personnel across the state to ensure adequate security at all Muslim prayer grounds and strategic locations during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, and made available to journalists in Warri on Friday, the Commissioner assured all Muslim faithful of the provision of adequate security and free flow of traffic throughout the state during the festivities.

Abaniwonda directed all Divisional Police Officers to intensify raids on criminal hideouts and black spots within their areas of responsibility.

This proactive measure aims to curb any potential threats and maintain peace during the celebrations.

“The police boss further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Operations Officers to employ all means necessary to ensure thorough supervision of personnel deployed for maintaining peace and tranquillity during and after the celebration,” the statement read.

Additionally, undercover police operatives have been deployed to monitor and report any suspicious activities to the command, enhancing the overall security framework.

To emphasise the commitment to safety, the Commissioner warned that anyone engaging in mischievous acts would be dealt with according to the law.

On behalf of the officers and men of the Command, Abaniwonda extended warm wishes to all Muslim faithful for a hitch-free and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The Commissioner’s proactive approach underscores the police force’s dedication to ensuring a safe environment for all citizens during the festive period.
