FG Declares June 12 Public Holiday for Democracy Day

The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, will be a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this declaration on behalf of the government, congratulating Nigerians on the occasion and urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic values.

He stated, “As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to implementing positive reforms aimed at revitalising the economy and enhancing national security.

The Minister encouraged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognise the progress made and to look forward to a brighter future for the country’s democracy.
