Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force raided a notorious blackspot in the Kwale area of Delta State, recovering guns and other ammunition.

Acting on credible intelligence about the activities of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in the Kwale axis, Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi directed the Commander of the Quick Response Squad to act discreetly on the gathered information.

Following these directives, Commander SP Osadolor Godwin led a surveillance team attached to the Kwale Division and stormed the suspects’ hideout in an uncompleted building on June 8, 2024, at around 11:40 AM.

Upon sighting the police, two suspects opened fire and managed to escape.

Recovered at the scene were three locally made guns, two pump-action guns, one AK-47 magazine, thirty-four rounds of live cartridges, and fifty-one rounds of AK-47 ammunition. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.

In a separate operation on the same day, at approximately 11:30 AM, operatives on special assignment based in Ughelli, led by ASP Julius Robinson, raided Jesse Junction and arrested Ufoma Omene, a 55-year-old resident of Jesse Junction area of Sapele town, originally from Mosogar in Ethiope West LGA.

A search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle with a revolver-like magazine and thirteen rounds of 7.6mm ammunition.

Omene is suspected to be involved in various crimes in the area and is believed to be a member of the Eiye confraternity. Investigation is ongoing.

Commissioner Abaniwonda Olufemi assured all residents and non-residents in Delta State that they can rest easy under his watch.

He noted the importance of public support for effective policing and urged the public to report any distress to the nearest police station or call the control room at 08036684974.
