The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, on Wednesday, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the Delta State Government’s ongoing support to the Nigerian Air Force and the effective execution of his M.O.R.E Agenda.
During a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House Asaba, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his gratitude for the 66.6 hectares of land gifted to the Air Force by Governor Oborevwori.
The Certificate of Occupancy for the land was officially handed over to the Air Force during this visit.
Abubakar, who was in the state to oversee the operational responsibilities of the Air Force in Warri, praised the governor for his sustained support and cooperation.
He also congratulated the Governor on his one-year anniversary in office and successful implementation of the M.O.R.E Agenda, which he described as a catalyst for the transformation of Delta State.
The CAS thanked the governor for providing the land for the Air Force barracks at Osubi in Okpe Local Government Area and requested additional land for a Nigerian Air Force housing scheme in the state.
Oborevwori, in his welcome address, noted the importance of collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force.
“To collaborate with the Nigerian Air Force, we have provided 66.6 hectares of land in Osubi, and the Certificate of Occupancy was issued in January this year,” the governor stated.
He clarified that the land was initially granted by the previous administration but lacked the necessary documentation until now.
He assured the Air Force Chief that the state would assist in constructing roads leading to the land, highlighting that this gesture aligns with the M.O.R.E Agenda’s goal of enhancing peace and security in Delta State. “
“We believe that only through peace and security can we achieve sustainable development,” Oborevwori said.
Addressing recent incidents of violence in the state, Governor Oborevwori condemned the Okuama 17 incident, affirming the state’s commitment to peace and security.
He mentioned that an IDP camp had been set up for affected citizens and assured the Air Force Chief that the request for additional land for the housing scheme would be promptly addressed.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to maintain peace and promote sustainable development in Delta State.
