EFCC arrests 8 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom

The Uyo zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom.

Spokesperson of the commission, Dele Oyewale, who dropped the hint in an interaction with newsmen said the arrest was effected on May 2nd at Osongama extension following an auctionable intelligence.

Oyewale listed the items recovered from the suspects to include 7 laptops, 13 smartphones, 2 wrist watches, and 1 router.

He added that the suspects would be charged in court as soon as investigations were concluded.

His statement reads, ” Operatives of the Uyo zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, on Thursday, May 2 2024, arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning sting operation at Osongama extension, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

They were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.

Items recovered from them include 7 laptops, 13 smartphones, 2 wristwatches, and 1 router”
