In a swift reaction to the recent endorsement of the Senate president and senator representing Akwa Ibom North West, Godswill Akpabio as sole candidate for 2027 senatorial election, the state PDP says they will not just file in a candidate to challenge the senator, but will unseat the Senate president in 2027.
Publicity secretary of the PDP, Borono Bassey, who disclosed this in a reaction to the development, said the PDP will file in a credible candidate that will make them proud at the polls and in the red chambers.
He said whatever transpired at Ikot Ekpene Sports stadium that culminated in the endorsement was a political aspiration and desires of the APC.
Recall the minister of state for petroleum resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo and member representing Ikot Ekpene Federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Patrick Umoh, had, during a reception organized by Akwa Ibom West senatorial district in honour of Akpabio, moved and seconded a motion to adopt him as the sole candidate for the election in 2027.
According to Bassey, the PDP is the only political party that is know to Akwa Ibom people , noting that the electorates will consider antecedents and performance before giving mandate to anyone.
