Universities Admonished to Set Agenda on Political Issues

A call has being made to all Nigerian universities and academia to be reawakened to their responsibilities in providing ideas and setting standards for the country’s politicians.

The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah made the call today while declaring open a one day seminar engagement of political parties and their candidates in Kwara State organized by the Department of Politics and Governance in collaboration with Centre for Community Development of the University.

Professor Na’Allah while addressing the partipant,noted that universities and academia had failed the country for not setting agenda for the political class, rather engaged in pushing blaming on leaders for the woeful status of the nation.

In his remarks he said,, the country’s universities failed to predict some of the challenges currently facing Nigeria, especially the herdsmen crisis, saying that the Universities and academia must study the problems and make provisions for sustainable solutions.

Professor Na’Allah said this country is blessed beyond it lacking,he wants academia to be awakened and organize schedules for the political class by bringing ideas to their tables.

He added that Nigeria has the opportunity considering the enormous potentials in the country to be the leading nation in the world, pointing out that the present political class of the country has left my citizens withweakned trust in it government.

He emphasizd on them setting templates for political parties and their candidates in the state by organizing debates that would be covered by the media for them to tell Nigerians, particularly kwarans on their political manifestoes and programmes for the people.
