The Cooperative Society of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of members.
This is as the organization held its 17th Annual General Meeting on Thursday at the NSCDC state headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.
The event featured the presentation of the Financial Report & Account for the year 2023.
Speaking in an interview with NATIONAL TELESCOPE, the President of the Cooperative, Adebayo Kayode, stated that the member’s welfare is the organization’s priority.
He said, “The primary objective of every cooperative society is to give loans to members, every other thing is secondary. In the area of loan issuance, we have disbursed up to N535 million for the 2023 financial year, unlike the previous year.
“We have also diversified the cooperative activities to investments that have been bringing in lots of income which has added to the amount that was declared this year.”

While appreciating the members, he urged members to be prudent and more committed to the policies and programme of the organisation.
Kayode enjoined defaulted to desist from such practice, saying such would continue to affect their credit record.
He added, “We want to assure our faithful members that they have not seen much. We have so much more to offer that would be of immense benefit to them.”
Earlier, in his opening address, the Oyo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Augustine Padonu who doubles as the Patron of the organisation commended the leadership of the cooperative for its commitment to the welfare of members.
He said, “I have gone through the trading and profit account of this cooperative. I started from the Aqua Water project, I saw the gross profit, the expenses, and the deduction from the profit and loss account and I can see at the end of last year (2023) that you generated over N7 million.
“I have visited the water project and I have seen some of the projects being executed and established by this cooperative executives and there is another one which they want to embark on. They have written to me and I have approved. I want to tell you that your money is in a safe hand of this executive and subsequent elections that you will do, you should know how you will do the voting very well.
“I want to compare your cooperative executive to others. I am a member of three good cooperative societies. I am a member in Lagos, Kaduna, and Osun. I want to join Oyo to be the fourth one. Why I want to applaud this executive and the cooperatives society entirely is that where I am coming from, their AGM is merged in two years for them to declare their account but here I am seeing it on a yearly basis.
He added, “I am seeing so many projects established by your cooperative which is physical and you can see. And the gift given to you after your AGM, in some other cooperatives, they remove it from the profit generated but yours is not like that, you did contribution towards that. That shows that you are very plain and your executives are very plain.”
The event was attended by members of the organisation, representatives of some commercial banks, Sister security agencies, WOMAI City, as well as representatives of the Oyo State Cooperative Federation and the Oyo State Government.
The high point of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to the State Commandant and the presentation of certificates to outstanding members of the organisation.
