The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) recently apprehended two individuals suspected of engaging in vandalism of petroleum pipelines, crude oil theft, and other illegal activities related to petroleum products.

The suspects, identified as Samson Koki, 25, and Zakaria Yakubu, 18, had been long sought by the authorities and were finally captured at Shell Well Head 26 in Owaza, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.

Detailing the operation, Ndukwe Agu Egwu, the Head of the Public Relations Unit of Abia NSCDC, stated that the successful arrest was a result of a collaborative effort between NSCDC, DSS, and Shell’s internal security operations.

“The successful arrest of the suspects who have been on the Abia NSCDC wanted list is considered a major breakthrough in our unreserved commitment to combat oil pipeline vandalism,” said Egwu.

The NSCDC expressed gratitude to the public for providing timely information that led to the suspects’ arrest, emphasizing that this action aligns with the directives of the Commandant General, Abubakar Audi.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered fifty-five cellophane packs containing petroleum products suspected to be crude oil, along with a long hose linked to the illegal activities of the suspects.
