The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has expressed his commitment to supporting locally-made vehicles as a way to bolster economic development. Adeniyi made these remarks following a test drive at one of the Nigerian vehicle manufacturing factories.
In a statement posted on their official X account, Adeniyi was quoted as saying, “It is vital that we promote our Nigerian products and give them the opportunity they deserve. Relying solely on imports, especially in the automotive sector, is not sustainable.”
He emphasized the need to provide support to local manufacturers through concessions and by actively using their products. Adeniyi expressed his satisfaction after test-driving one of the vehicles, praising its performance and quality.
Additionally, the Sales Manager at Mikano Motors Abuja, Hassan Ghandour, highlighted the company’s commitment to supplying premium quality products to the Nigerian Customs Service. Ghandour mentioned the appeal, affordability, and variety of options available to customers, along with a warranty of up to six years for 200,000 kilometers.
Mikano Motors Abuja plans to provide after-sales services, spare parts, and dedicated customer support. The company’s range includes sedans, SUVs, and pickup trucks, all tailored to suit the Nigerian climate and road conditions while remaining cost-effective for clients.
Overall, the collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and local vehicle manufacturers marks a positive step towards promoting locally-made products and driving economic empowerment in the country.
