The tranquility of Anguwar Danko in Kakangi ward of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State was shattered on Wednesday when terrorists launched a deadly attack, claiming the lives of at least 23 individuals.
The police spokesperson in Kaduna, Mansur Hassan, was not immediately available to confirm the attack at the time this report was filed.
A community leader, Zubairu Abdulrahuf, informed reporters that a significant number of bandits raided the community on Wednesday night, firing sporadically to intimidate residents. During the chaos, over 20 individuals were killed.
He mentioned that five individuals were injured to varying extents by gunfire, with several residents still unaccounted for following the assault.
“The bandits stormed the neighborhood in large numbers, fired gunshots intermittently, and then dragged their victims away,” the security report said.
“Armed persons invaded our community on Wednesday, welding sophisticated weapons. They fired and killed at will and abducted several residents who we could not account for as of Thursday evening.”
A lawmaker representing the area in the State House of Assembly, Yahaya Musa, On Thursday, it was reported that 23 individuals lost their lives, five were injured, and an unspecified number of residents were either abducted or remain unaccounted for as a result of the attack.
“There were casualties following Wednesday’s attack in my constituency; so far, 23 people were buried on Thursday,” he said.
He further noted that out of the deceased, 19 were residents of Anguwar Danko, with the remaining four fatalities occurring in Kanawa village.
