Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is saddened at the death of the great jurist and patriot Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore (retired).
Belgore, who until his recent retirement was the presiding justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, died on Tuesday night.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin Kwara State on Wednesday.
“The Governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ilorin Emirate, whose illustrious son the jurist was, to the bar and the bench, and to the Belgores, who have lost a rare gem.
Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost community leader who offered his shoulder for many to lean on, the Governor said.
Governor AbdulRazaq asks Allah to forgive Justice Belgore’s shortcomings, admit him to al-Jannah Firdaus, and give fortitude to the Belgores and everyone who mourns him.” The statement said
Also, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has described the death of Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, a retired presiding justice of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin division, as a colossal loss.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, Rt. Hon. Engr. Danladi-Salihu commiserated with the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, the Belgore family, and the entire Ilorin Emirate on the passing of one of their distinguished sons.
He urged the Emir of Ilorin, the Belgore family, and the Ilorin community to take heart in this moment of grief and to be comforted by the enviable and impactful life the late legal luminary lived both at national and international levels.
The Speaker asked Allah, in His infinite mercy, to forgive the shortcomings of Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore.

Until his death, Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore was the National President, of Darul-Uloom Alumni, an offshoot of the famous Arabic Training Centre, Markaz Agege, Lagos.
Sen. Saliu Mustapha, the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and Turaki of Ilorin, has also expressed grief over the demise of Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, who passed away on Tuesday’s night.
The Senator, in a condolence message personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday, believed that the late renowned jurist lived and served the country with his knowledge of the law, describing him as a distinguished jurist and an exemplary member of the bench.
While commiserating with the Nigeria Bar Association and members of the Bench on the death of the legal luminary, Senator Mustapha noted that the late Justice Ahmad Belgore contributed immensely to the development of his community and the state in general, recalling his years of service in the judiciary, where he worked with utmost dedication and bowed out in glory last year.
He equally condoled the Belgore family, the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, the people of Balogun Fulani constituency, associates, and friends of the deceased over the death of this illustrious son of the Ilorin emirate and a great bencher, praying Almighty Allah to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Sen Mustapha therefore prayed to Allah to overlook his misdeeds and grant him eternal rest.
