The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has urged Muslim ummahs to continue to be thankful to Almighty Allah for His mercies and protections over them.
He noted that despite all the challenges facing the nation, the people of Ilorin Emirate are living in peace and harmony without rancor, “which necessitates us to remain grateful and prayerful always.”
The monarch stated this in his sallah message to the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond, delivered at the Ilorin Central Eid praying ground, marking the 2024 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih OON, at 9 a.m., with state government functionaries led by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Mahe Abdulkadir, in attendance.
He also condemned the act of kidnapping and other social vices persisting in the nation and advised citizens to always support leaders with fervent prayers and obedience in order to deliver on their mandates.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also sued for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdulrahaman and advised worshippers to always conduct themselves peacefully and desist from overheating the polity, stressing that Eid praying grounds should not be turned into battle fields or arenas for political engagements .
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih OON shortly after the two rakat prayers, urged the Muslim faithful to remain committed to the commandments of Almighty Allah at all times.
He extolled the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), stressing that he is the best of mankind, adding that Muslim Ummah have been blessed with the observation of the just concluded holy month of Ramadan.
He urged Muslims to be conscious of the fact that only Almighty Allah can determine who will witness the next Ramadan and advised them to remain dutiful to Allah by obeying his commandment of good deeds and shunning acts capable of earning His anger of any kind.
The cleric also prayed for peaceful coexistence across the world, especially in Nigeria, even as he prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to have a successful tenure in office to the benefit of the entire population of the state and the nation in general.
