CBN bans foreign currencies as collateral for naira loans.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has instructed all banks in Nigeria to discontinue the acceptance of foreign currencies as collateral for loans denominated in naira.

This directive was made available in a circular published on its website on Monday.

The apex bank highlighted the observation of customers using foreign currencies as security for naira loans and has consequently implemented an immediate ban.
