The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has successfully apprehended seven (7) suspects found bordering on child defilement.
According to a press release e-signed by the Public Relations Officer, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, and made available to the National Telescope, the suspect was found engaging in unlawful practices.
The statement reads, “In a bid to curb the molestation of female children in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has successfully apprehended seven (7) suspects in the offenses bordering on child defilement, harmful traditional practices, and human trafficking at different locations in the state.
“The State Commandant, CC Augustine Padonu, gave the names of the suspects as Osuolale Ayodele, aged 53,, a native of Osun State and resident of Olunloyo area, Ibadan. He was arrested for raping a 13-year-old minor on January 26th, 2024, while John Umeh, aged 64,, a native of Abia State and resident of Monaghan area, Ibadan, was also arrested for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter since she was 7 years old until she turned 16 years old.
Eyeke Chimechie, aged 45,, a native of Ebonyi State and resident of the Bestway area, was arrested in Ibadan for impregnating a 17-year-old girl and subjecting her to domestic violence.
“Also, Mutiu Alabi, aged 45,, a native of Ibadan, and Adedoja Lukman, aged 72,, a native of Kobomoje Compound, Ibadan, were arrested for engaging in harmful traditional practices and others.
“Meanwhile, Tomiwa Olusegun, aged 35,, an indigene of Ile Ajiroba Isale,Oyo, Oyo State, and Eritobiloba Rasidi, aged 49,, a native of Ibadan, Idi Omo Compound, were arrested on February 22, 2024, at Ojoo Motor Park while attempting to traffic four girls to Libya.
However, Commandant Augustine Padonu noted that the suspects are currently undergoing investigation, and they would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was completed.
“The NSCDC Oyo State Command will continue to work tirelessly to combat human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and children.”
