UNIBEN Mgt. denies allegation as Student dies after been allegedly denied medical attention

The Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital has said the allegation of the student been died medical attention is false.

Speaking to CAMPUS FOCUS in a phone chat yesterday, the Public Relation Officer of the institution Mr. Uwaela Joshua Esq. maintained that if the institution’s hospital could attend to other people, it could have denied the students of medical attention.

“Although it’s a painful loss but for anyone to say the boy was denied medical attention and that led to his death is not true at all.

“According to the nurses who I spoke with they said the students were complaining that they had delay in the school before they brought the guy to the hospital. Immediately they brought him, the nurses at the accident and emergency centre they took him to attended to him and at they a point they rushed to bring in oxygen, but unfortunately the boy couldn’t make.

“If they had brought him earlier obviously this may not have turned out like this.

“For such an institution that is a federal hospital, where you even attend to accident victims you don’t know and our own student will come and they wont attend to the person, I mean you know it cannot be true. And I am very sure whatever would have happened it must be that its unavoidable circumstances that would have led to the death.”

“Most of the Doctors here are lecturers in the university so its not possible they will now  bring their student and they won’t attend to him.” He added

Joshua however called on the students to always ensure early report on any case to the right authority in order to avert such occurrence in the future
