There are strong indications that the fuel crisis may begin any moment soon following the resurgence of long queues outside some filling stations in parts of Lagos State on Monday.
The situation is occasioned by the scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called fuel.
Some of our correspondent observed that there was gridlock caused by long queues along the Ikorodu, Yaba, Ikeja, and Mile 2 axis.
At Total Filling station, Mobolaji Bank, Ikorodu, there was a heavy gridlock caused by vehicles parked in a long queue.
Lamenting the situation, one of the car owners, Mrs Idowu, who said she had been in the queue for several hours, expressed concern that the situation could worsen if nothing is done to address it.
She said, “I have been here for several minutes, about 30 minutes to be precise. We can’t add this to the situation on the ground already.”
A commercial bus rider, Malik Apalara said, “Something should be done to address this fuel issue. It is food we were saying it’s too cost because they increased the fuel price and now they want to make the fuel scarce. This is a problem that they are looking for.”
Reacting, the National Vice Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Hammed Fashola, attributed the scarcity to panic from members of the public, saying “There is no scarcity”
