The apex Igbo social-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has vehemently condemned the foreign trip of President Bola Tinubu to Paris on a private visit amid an increasing rate of insecurity in the country.
This is as the group described the President’s absence as a “disaster” and called for his immediate return to the country to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
President Tinubu journey to Paris on the 24th January, 2024 makes third trip since he assumed office in May 29th, 2023.
The security threats has also increased since his trip with several cases of kidnapping and killings.
Speaking on the matter, the Secretary-General said,
“We would like to ask the president to fulfill his constitutional obligations by formally sending power to Vice President Kashim Shettima in his absence”.
“Nigerians are already suffering immensely due to the escalating security challenges and the dire state of our economy, exacerbated by the crash of the naira in foreign exchange markets. The consequences of neglecting these pressing issues pose a severe risk, as the potential fallout could be nothing short of disastrous”.
