Fire razes INEC office, destroy materials in Ibadan

There was a fire incident at one of the Offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) located at Ibadan South East Local Government Area on Friday.
The incident which occurred at 10:00am was caused by a power surge while some logistic materials were destroyed.

This was made known in a statement E-signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella, and made available to NATIONAL TELESCOPE.

The Statement reads in part, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Oyo State has reported an outbreak of fire incident at its Ibadan South East Local Government Area office today.

“The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but was assumed to be triggered by a power surge.

“No life was lost but with the exception of logistic materials that got burnt saying that, the incident has no effect on the upcoming Saki/West State Constituency re-run election coming up on Saturday the 3rd of February 2024.”
