The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sent a team of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, to Ibadan the Oyo State capital, to assist the Oyo State Government in the management of the recent explosion that occurred in Ibadan.
The Permanent Secretary at LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu revealed this today at the Y2023 annual staff retreat held in Igando to prepare the staff of the Agency ahead of the year’s challenges.
While speaking on the theme:
“Promoting Sustainable Development Through Disaster Risk Reduction”, Dr. Osanyitolu called on emergency officers to be professional in the execution of their duties, reiterating the need for first responders be open to new ideas and changes in the new year.
Facilitators at the retreat harped on work ethics and collaboration to enhance smooth emergency management in Y2024.
The Emergency Responders in Lagos were charged to improve more on their work ethics to enhance higher productivity in Disaster and Risk Management for the benefit of residents.
This was the consensus of stakeholders at this year’s Annual Staff Retreat of LASEMA held at the resettlement camp Igando.
Speaking during a presentation on Work Place Etiquette: A tool for getting the right thing done, a Risk Management Consultant, Mr Taofeek Ajetunmobi, focused on the need for team spirit to synergise in handling emergency cases.
Mr Ajetunmobi who called on First Responders to be more professional by acquiring new ideas, urged the government to create a conducive working environment for workers with commensurate renumeration to motivate them.
Another facilitator, Mrs Aminat Hazmat, challenged emergency Responders to improve on their technological skills and align with their global counterpart to get more results.
Some of the participants commended the Permanent Secretary LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, for the initiative which they noted would be put to use and create a more formidable emergency management team in Lagos.
