Rep member calls for rescue of abducted corpers

The House of Representatives has called on the Superintendent of the Nigerian Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and other security officials to ensure the release of seven national servicemen who were abducted by bandits.

The British Broadcasts BBC explained that this was after the approval of the bill that a member of the House from Akwa Ibom, Unyime Idem and eight other people presented in the parliament hall on Tuesday.

Presenting the bill, Idem recalled that on August 17, some bandits kidnapped seven national servicemen from Akwa Ibom state when they were on their way to Zamfara.

The bandits demanded a payment of 200 million naira before they would release the soldiers to serve the country.

Idem, said that this incident could undermine the very purpose of the National Service (NYSC).

Terrorists have plagued the Northern part of Nigeria while the situation is getting worse.
