A notable group has urged the University of Ibadan to reverse the increment in accommodation fees to ease the economic pressure.

This was stated in a circular by the management that newly admitted students will pay the sum of N60,000 while returning students will pay N45,000, respectively.

Meanwhile, new students, including the occupants of Alexander Brown Hall at the University College Hospital (UCH) are directed to pay N60,000 as the new fee for the accommodation.

National Telescope learnt that this is against the N30,000 paid in the previous academic session accordingly.

However the Education Rights Campaign (ERC), University of Ibadan branch, through its coordinator, Ben Taffe, in its comment condemned the decision of the university’s management over the said increment.

Speaking further, the group said that all halls of residence remain in the same despicable condition as they were before students last session’s break.

It also explained that when the fees were increased previously, it did not translate to better living conditions of the resident students, which also indicate that this latest increment would still be the same.
