Herdman arrested for cutting off farmer’s hand in Plateau

A herdsman, Abdulrahman Kaila has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for allegedly cutting off a farmer’s hand in the Lakushi community, the Shendam Local Government Area of the state.

In a video seen on social media last week, the farmer held his severed right hand with blood dripping on the ground.

In the brief video, the victim was heard complaining to some individuals that a herder had amputated his hand after he ordered him to move his cattle out of his farm.

Alabo Alfred, the state police public relations officer, said PUNCH Metro in Jos, the state’s capital, on Sunday that everything was set up for the suspect to be arraigned in court.

The PPRO declared, “We have detained the culprit who severed someone’s hand. He is currently in our care. Through our network of intelligence, we were able to apprehend him. It’s not like he willingly gave himself up. We won’t reveal our plan because that is our approach in action.

When police learned the news, the state’s chief of police gave the DPO instructions to pursue the perpetrator, and after a swift reaction by the DPO, the suspect was arrested and he gave us his reason for cutting the hand of the farmer.

“The only thing I can tell you is that the investigation has been concluded and the suspect will be charged in court tomorrow (Monday) or on Tuesday.”
