President Bola Tinubu’s inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday is making headlines.
This move comes as a response to the pressing need for changes in the nation’s fiscal policies and tax structure, aimed at addressing the current economic challenges.
What’s even more intriguing is the inclusion of a young Nigerian, Miss Orire Agbaje, in this significant committee.
This decision highlights the crucial role that young individuals play in national development.
Orire Agbaje is a fourth-year student majoring in Economics at the University of Ibadan (UI), located in Oyo State.
The committee, consisting of about 70 members, boasts the inclusion of Orire Agbaje, who holds the prestigious position of President of the Nigerian Universities Tax Club.
This selection marks a momentous occasion, and a picture posted by Mr. Olusegun Dada, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media and Digital Communications, captures President Tinubu’s interaction with Orire Agbaje.
Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, a former Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at Price Waterhouse Coopers, has been appointed as the chairperson of the committee.
With this new committee in place, there is anticipation for positive reforms that will address the current economic challenges facing the nation.
