Angry protesters storm N’Assembly, pull down gate

Some protesters on Tuesday stormed the National Assembly complex in Abuja and pulled down the gate.

It was gathered that the protesters had earlier asked the security operatives stationed at the legislative building to open the gate to allow the angry workers access.

Led by the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, and the Trade Union Congress, the Organised Labour Union sought audiences with the leadership of the National Assembly to express their grievances.

They were however denied access and this infuriated angry protesters who pulled down the gate and thronged into the assembly complex to vent their anger.

In a video posted on social media, the protesters were seen holding placards, NLC and TUC flag chanting alongside a music ‘ole, ole, ole,’ before breaking down the complex gate.

The Senate is currently in plenary carrying out the screening of President Bola Tinubu Ministerial-nominee which commenced on Monday.
