Jigawa State Police Command has arrested five suspected rapists at the Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam made the disclosure in a statement on Tuesday Night.
The arrested suspects are Aliyu Sani, 50, Rabi’u Ibrahim, 45, Idris Haruna, 38, Hussain Mato, 32, and Rabi’u Inuwa, 50.
“On 8/7/2023 a 14-year-old girl, went out to hawk Tofu (Awara), in the process, one Aliyu Sani, 50, lured the girl into the room of one Rabiu Ibrahim, 45, all of Jahun LGA and both had carnal knowledge of her,” the statement said.
According to the statement the suspects and the victim were taken to Sexual Assault Referral Center Dutse for medical examination and in the course of examination, one of the suspects (name withheld) was confirmed HIV positive while another suspect tested positive for hepatitis.
The police spokesman added that the suspects would be soon arraigned in court.
