97% of Nigerian music not children friendly, says Adaku

Popular On-Air-Personality (OAP) and a star face of Jenifa’s Diary, Omotunde Adebowale, popularly known as Lolo 1 and Adaku has disclosed that most songs that Nigerian singers release now have no meaning.
In a recent interview with Hip TV, she said that 97 percent of the current music in Nigeria are not communicating any message. She used “WO” by Olamide as an example of the type of songs she was talking about.

She claimed they are not children friendly, adding that “we are just having fun. 97% of Nigerian music have no meaning.

“I’m not sure if they’re passing any message because if you are looking at the content of music, what will you say you’re buying? It’s not that everybody talks crap but 97 percent of it has no meaning. ‘Bangdadadang’, what does that mean? ‘Skibidipapap’, doesn’t have any meaning, ‘Wo!’, it’s just play, we are just having [fun] “It’s not like the music of Obey, Barrister, Sunny Ade, they had depth, they had what they wanted to pass, though we have people here in this current generation that are doing conscious music, Fela was a great advocate, he did a lot of social impact in music. But in this generation, i’m not sure.”
