3 Month to Election: Nigerians react as Ondo Gov moves to recruit 1000 Teachers

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu announced on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the commencement of 1000 Teachers into the States civil service.

The Governor who made the disclosure in a post on his twitter handle said Two hundred vacancies are for candidates with B.ED while Eight hundred are for NCE holders.

He wrote: “Today we announced that we will begin the recruitment of of 1,000 teachers with B.ED & NCE qualifications. Two hundred vacancies are for candidates with B.ED, while 800 are for NCE holders. Interested applicants should reach out to SUBEB at https://ondosubeb.com/contact-us/.

This is coming less than 3 month to the Governorship Election in Ondo State.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed 10th of October 2020 Ondo state election.

Meanwhile, reactions have trailed the decision by the Ondo state Governor.

Responding to the Governor, a twitter handler identified as Juwon Jack said “Election Time blessing Time.”

In the same vein, Adeoye Steve said “You are a trickster”

One Olusola Adedayo said “The recruitment is strictly vote-buying. Why not 3yrs ago? Politicians thinks everyone is gullible. Anyway,I hope I have awaken d masses on ondo to vote wisely.”

Another user handler Aladekoye Adeolu said “Lol your doing good sir but it shouldn’t be now, election is almost here but I know Ondo people know what is best for them not someone that want to do a project to collect vote for the citizen of a state he left since the past three years better save this money our next leader.”

Similarly, Jonah kingsley said “Why now? Because election is close abi. We all go sha dey alright one day.”

Meanwhile a twitter handler, who tweets @CAPT__Vincent, expressed concern that such recruitment could affect another administration if the current Governor loss out of the election.

He said “Imagine recruiting them and another administration comes in and say they can’t pay salaries for the newly recruits, why recruit few months to election.”
