The family of Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd) can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has regained his freedom after spending 56 days in captivity.

Tsiga was abducted from his hometown in Bakori local government area of Katsina state on February 5, 2025, alongside nine other residents.

Despite the payment of ransom, his abductors held him captive for several weeks, sparking concerns about his safety.

According to sources close to the family, Tsiga’s release was secured after a ransom was paid, although the exact amount is disputed.

The kidnappers initially demanded more money, but eventually released Tsiga, who is reportedly in good condition.

The incident has highlighted the growing concern of kidnapping in Nigeria, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents.

Tsiga’s release is a welcome relief, but the incident serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance and action to address the root causes of kidnapping.
