A 23-year-old woman, Precious Yusuf, was discovered dead along DLA Road in Asaba, Delta State, after meeting a man she connected with on the dating site iHappy.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe reported that Precious’s body was found on Thursday following an alert from the public.
Initial investigations revealed she had told a friend on Tuesday that she planned to meet the man.
The friend spoke to her on Wednesday, when Precious indicated she was heading home; that was the last contact before her body was found.
Edafe stated, “On October 22, she informed her friend of her meeting. The following day, she called to say she was returning, but her body was found the next morning.”
The police have begun an investigation, and the body has been sent to a morgue for autopsy.
Edafe urged young women to exercise caution when interacting with people online, particularly from dating sites.
This tragic case echoes previous incidents, including the death of 21-year-old Mojisola Awesu, found dead after attending a party arranged through social media.
Authorities are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Precious’s death and ensuring justice for her family.
