2027 Elections: Southern Kaduna Youths Declare Support for Tinubu, Shettima, Katung

Youths under the umbrella of the Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youth Groups have pledged their total support for President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other key political leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said their endorsement follows the recent establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, both situated in Southern Kaduna, describing the gesture as a major milestone in the development of the region.

Speaking during a press conference in Kaduna on Friday, the coalition’s Coordinator, Mr Luke Duniya, said the Southern Kaduna people were grateful to the Federal Government and the political actors who made the projects possible.

Duniya, who was flanked by other youth leaders, noted that the projects would have a far-reaching impact on the lives of the people, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare delivery, and employment opportunities.

“We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for their unwavering commitment to the development of Southern Kaduna,” Duniya stated.

He added, “To whom much is given, much is expected. Therefore, in appreciation of these laudable projects — the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan — we are ready to mobilise our people across the region to vote massively for President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Senator Sunday Katung in the 2027 general elections.”

The Federal Government had earlier announced the approval of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, as part of its efforts to promote access to quality education in the country.

Vice President Shettima had also disclosed plans to establish the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan to improve healthcare delivery in the region.

The Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, subsequently directed that the university be captured in the 2025 budget, with plans for the institution to commence academic activities by September this year.

Duniya stressed that the two federal institutions would not only enhance human capital development but would also drive socio-economic growth in Southern Kaduna.

“These two projects will bring about transformative change in our region,” he said. “They will open up educational opportunities for our young people, improve healthcare services, and create employment for thousands of our people.”

The coalition also showered encomiums on Senator Sunday Marshall Katung for what they described as his “exemplary leadership and dedication” to the welfare of Southern Kaduna.

“Our Distinguished Senator has been diligent and focused since he assumed office,” Duniya said. “His interventions in education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment are already yielding positive results in our communities.”

The coalition recalled that Vice President Shettima had recently declared that President Tinubu “has the people of Kaduna and Southern Kaduna at heart,” a statement they said reflects the administration’s commitment to the region.

In a show of solidarity, the youths passed a vote of confidence on Senator Katung, assuring him of their continued support in the coming political dispensation.

“We are convinced that with our sustained support, Senator Katung will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to our people,” Duniya affirmed. “We pray that God will continue to guide him and all our leaders to prioritise the development of Southern Kaduna, irrespective of political party affiliations.”

The coalition further urged the people of the region to embrace peace and unity, and to take full advantage of the new institutions to better their lives.

According to them, the Tinubu administration’s intervention in Southern Kaduna is a clear demonstration that development can be achieved when there is collaboration between the people and those in positions of authority.

“We will not forget these gestures in a hurry,” Duniya concluded. “Our people will continue to stand with those who have shown genuine concern for the progress of our region.”

The establishment of the two federal institutions is expected to boost educational access, improve healthcare infrastructure, and foster economic activities in Southern Kaduna and neighbouring communities.
