Ahead the 2023 General Election, Sen. Ademola Balogun, representing Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has enjoined Youths to remain focus and not be misused by any politician.

Sen. Balogun who was represented by Hon. Adeniyi Ayeni at the Youth Summit organized by Omituntun Youth Forum (OYF) in Ibadan on Thursday, February 24, 2022, stressed that, youths are meant to be leaders.

According to him, “What we’ve seen in the past is that, either by consent or not, youth sometimes allow themselves to be misused, Instead of youth playing the role they are suppose to play in politics. Am very happy that a forum like this is coming up for us to address ourselves on what to do, who are we. It is important for the youth of nowadays to know who they are. God has deposited in us energy, strength, resources for us to take anything.

“I want us know that we have great potentials as youths. From henceforth, we must realize ourselves from been misused, from been abused and move to the role we are suppose to play and what is the role?, The youth, because of the potentials that God gave us, we are meant to be the leader, we are meant to lead, we are meant to take charge.

“Infact Politics is meant for us. When you look at some advanced country today, most people that are president are not more than 30 years, because they realized themselves.” He added.

The Summit which was tagged, “The Role of Youths in Politics” had in attendance some Aides to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Aspirants of various political offices under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji as well as other dignitaries.

Speaking in separate keynote addresses, Aides to the Oyo State Governor, while reiterating the State Government’s effort on Youth Development, admonished youths to support the 2nd term of Engr. Seyi Makinde as Governor of Oyo State.

The Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor who doubles as Chairman, Oyo State Primary Health Care, Hon. Dada Abiodun Awoleye said, “how we will return Seyi Makinde as Governor of Oyo State for the second term should be our first priority in Oyo State because he has done well. Everybody accepted him.”

Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism & Culture, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige stated that any government that doesn’t prioritize youth involvement can’t last long. Adding that, the Seyi Makinde’s led Government places premium on Youth Development.

He however encouraged the Omitutun Youth Movement (OYM) to remain focus to the objectives of 8ts establishment.

In the same vein, the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDG’s, Hon. Kunle Yusuff (MON), nored that “Youth development is part of four cardinal points of Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He also said, “The kind of politics we play before now in Oyo State is totally the politics of God-fatherism but with the person of Governor Seyi Makinde, we are now playing the politics of Development.”

In his remark, the President and Founder, Omitutun Movement, Otunba Seye Fawojuro who was represented by Hon. Ibrahim Oladele Simple, encouraged the youth to continue to support the current development efforts of the present Administration in the State.

Meanwhile, Aspirants of various political offices under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP who attended the event also took their turn to woo the Electorates.

Aspirants present at the event includes, Federal House of Representatives Aspirant for Ibadan North East/South East – Hon. Ibrahim Olarewaju Ajiboye (Omo Iya Eleja), Federal House of Representatives Aspirant for Akinyele/Lagelu Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo, Aspirant for Oyo State House of Assembly for Ibadan South East – Hon. Ahmed Qasim Adeniyi Meta Gold (Watimagbo), and Federal House of Representatives Aspirant for Ibadan North East/South East, Hon. Abass Olayinka Fawole.

Others includes; Representative of the Aspirant for Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Hon. Oloye Surajudeen Abiodun (Tiamy) and Representative of Aspirant, Alhaja Atobalele Fatimoh Oluwatoye,

Speaking in an interview with NATIONAL TELESCOPE, the Secretary of Omituntun Youth Forum (OYF), Hon. Popoola Abdullahi said the event is aimed at sensitizing the public on the need to prioritize youths involvement in politics for good governance.
