12-Year-Old Girl Emerges Oluyole LG One-Day Chairman in Oyo

A 12-year-old student, Aladetan Opeyemi, was on Wednesday inaugurated as the one-day chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Opeyemi, who is a student at Oyo State Comprehensive Model College, was joined by three other students: Abdulrasaq Oladokun (12 years old) as Vice Chairman, Aluko Israel (13 years old) as Secretary, and Tijani Teslim (13 years old) as Leader of the House.

These young leaders earned their positions by excelling in a local government-organised school competition aimed at promoting academic excellence.

Opeyemi emerged as the first runner-up in the contest.

During the ceremony at the local government secretariat, the students were sworn in and later inspected a newly completed Grade A Customary Court project in the area.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, highlighted the importance of the programme in encouraging academic achievements among young people.

“This initiative supports Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision and aims to reward academic excellence, offering an alternative to the promotion of inappropriate content on social media and television,” Olatunji said.

He assured that the programme would continue throughout his tenure and expressed hope for its sustainability under future administrations.

The event is part of efforts to inspire young minds and provide a platform for nurturing leadership skills among students.
